Response to your raised concern

Good afternoon,

A huge thank you to everyone who gave up their time and supported the Beat Sweep in and around the Olive Lane park area which took place today.  This was as a result of local residents complaints about fly-tipping and littering in the area.

A fantastic effort from partners across  Blackburn with Darwen all coming together to make a difference to Olive Lane Park and the surrounding area for the Beat Sweep.

Activities including litter picking, tackling fly-tipping, clearing overgrown areas, conducting bike marking whilst also engaging with local residents helping to make our neighbourhoods cleaner, safer and more welcoming for everyone.

We worked alongside Blackburn with Darwen Council, Lancashire Police Cadets, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, local councillors, residents, the Young People's Service, Darwen Youth Zone, Roots, Community Payback and the DVLA.

As part of the wider activity, the DVLA also dealt with 63 untaxed vehicles across Darwen.

Alongside the clean-up, our officers have also been reaching out to local businesses, who kindly donated items to support local foodbanks, and we thank them for their generosity.

If anyone wishes to share any concerns or issues within their area, please reply to this email and a member of Darwen Neighbourhood Police team will be in touch.

Kind regards,

PCSO 7858
